Sarah aai Kamana | Aminath Mafthooha

Sarah and her cat “Kamana” are the best of friends! They grew up together, playing different games and having lots of fun.

But one morning, Sarah noticed that Kamana was acting differently. She was refusing food and seemed to sleep more. Her whole family was worried about Kamana and they even took her to the vet for treatment. But Kamana passed away in this illness, leaving poor Sarah in a big cloud of grief. 

It is her grandmother who guides her and helps her navigate through this darkness. 

This book highlights a normally taboo topic, “loss and grief”, and talks about the associated pain and sadness, but is written in such a way to suit a younger audience.

This book concludes with a beautiful, HAPPY ending of how Sarah transforms her pain into hope, for so many other cats.
